Budapest’s Christmas trams are back in service this year, each decorated with lights for the holiday season.

The “light trams”, or fényvillamos, are covered with over 35,000 lights and are put into operation from 5pm each evening throughout December.

There are no special tickets needed to ride the trams, as standard tickets and passes are vaild for travel.

Budapest's Christmas trams run only in December on eight different lines: 2, 4, 19, 50, 59, 14, 47, and 56A. There will be no service on December 24 or 31.
