Budapest’s Christmas trams are back in service for another year, each decorated with lights for the holiday season.
The famous “light tram”, or fényvillamos, is the main attraction covered with over 39,000 lights and is put into operation from 5pm each evening throughout December and early January.
The more than 50 year-old Ganz UV tram primarily circulates on the tram line 2, but you can also catch it in other parts of the city. There are no special tickets needed to ride the trams, as standard tickets and passes are vaild for travel.
Budapest's Christmas trams run up until January 7th, 2018 on 11 different lines: 2, 14M, 19, 41, 42, 47, 49, 50, 56A, 59 and 69 from 5 pm till 7 pm. There will be no service on December 24th or 31st.
