Coronavirus Update: 199 patients have so far been able to leave the hospital

Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller confirmed that there are 722 adults and seven children currently hospitalized with the coronavirus, and 60 of those are on a ventilator.

At today’s Operational Group press conference, Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller reported that 199 patients have so far been able to leave the hospital, but eight more patients have passed away in the last 24 hours.

“There are 1,652 confirmed infections currently in Hungary,” she said, adding that “of all those infected, 35 percent are over 70 years of age and those over 80 years of age are severely affected. The proportion of people under 30 is 12 percent.”

Müller also confirmed that there are 722 adults and seven children currently hospitalized with the coronavirus, and 60 of those are on a ventilator. “It is precisely because of the increasing numbers that further preparation is important. All conditions must be in place for everyone to receive the best possible care. The number of available beds has also been posted on the coronavirus government website,” she said.

Regarding elderly care homes, the Chief Medical Officer said that there is currently only one focal point in the country, the Metropolitan Municipality Home for the Elderly. Eleven elderly homes in total have been affected by the epidemic, thus inspections have begun in all institutions across the country.
