The number of confirmed people infected with the coronavirus in Hungary now stands at 3,970. In compulsory home quarantine: 9,693. Recovered: 2,245. Deceased: 542.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases is 1,183. The results show that 41 percent of those infected, 59 percent of the deceased, and 48 percent of those recovered live in Budapest. There are currently 397 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, 21 of those are on ventilators.

It’s still vital for everyone to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters and cover their face in shops and on public transport. It is recommended to stay at home and observe the rules and recommendations, especially elderly people, students, and those who have returned from abroad.

During yesterday’s Operational Group press conference, Róbert Kiss, Lieutenant Colonel of the Hungarian Police Force, said Hungary has successfully and efficiently defended itself in the first phase of the epidemic. “Parliament will vote on the elimination of the state of emergency, however, the operational Group will continue its work,” he said.

He added that restrictions on events remain, but general restrictions will end with the elimination of the state of emergency. “After June 16, the emergency situation may end in a few days, after which theaters, museums, cinemas and baths can reopen,” he concluded.
