Coronavirus Update: Government offices will only receive customers by appointment

Government offices can only be visited by appointment, issued documents will be posted and mobile government offices are not operational.

In the interest of preventing the spread of the coronavirus, government and document offices will only receive customers by appointment from March 18.

At the same time, the operation of Mobile Government Window Customer Services (“KAB buses”) has been suspended indefinitely. If you have forgotten your client gate identifier, staff members at the Government Customer Line available at the toll-free number 1818 will be happy to help.

It is no longer possible to take a number at government windows and document offices; administration of affairs is only possible by prior appointment. Appointments can be booked with the client gate identifier on the renewed magyarorszag.hu website, while for customers with no client gate registration at the toll-free number 1818 available around the clock.

Issued documents cannot be collected at customer service points; regardless of the provisions of a regulation issued earlier, official documents issued by government offices and district (metropolitan district) offices will be posted.

At the customer service points of government offices and district offices, the number of customers allowed on the customer service premises at any one time must be limited.

The National Tax and Customs Administration has completed the personal income tax returns of 2.8 million taxpayers. Citizens with client gate registration can finalize them electronically. Many customers, however, forget their user names and passwords, and in the past these details were only made available to customers at government offices in person. In the interest of reducing personal contact meetings, in the case of forgotten identifiers, from today there is no need for personal attendance. Customers will be given access to their client gate details via the toll-free Government Customer Line at 1818.

We ask you to only contact customer services in person in the case of essential urgent matters. Instead, please visit electronic administration sites and request information by telephone. If personal administration is unavoidable, customers are requested to wait outside the customer service premises, maintaining “a social distance” of minimum 1.5 to 2 meters. from one another.
