In a post on his Facebook page, the foreign minister said easing coronavirus-related restrictions must be coupled with continued purchases of protective equipment.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said that Hungary had received 2,800 lung ventilators and nearly 8 million face masks during the past week. He quoted WHO figures and said that a daily 100,000 new COVID-19 infections are reported worldwide.

“If the virus is spreading in other parts of the world its return to Europe cannot be excluded,” he said. “Our job is to prepare the health system for a worst-case scenario, including a possible second wave,” he added.
