Coronavirus Update: National Utilities (NKM) group companies suspend the reading of public utility meters

NKM are temporarily suspending the personal reading of meters by their staff.

In light of the coronavirus epidemic, the distributing members of the National Utilities (NKM) group, NKM Natural Gas Network Ltd., NKM Electricity Network Ltd., and NKM North-South Natural Gas Network Ltd., are temporarily suspending the personal reading of meters by their staff.

E.On and Elmű-Émász have previously announced the suspension of meter readings.

In its statement, NKM wrote that the measure contributes to the continuous supply of gas and electricity and to the protection of staff and clients during the period of the epidemic. Clients will be informed at a later date with relation to the issuing of annual accounts and various ways of reporting meter data.

The state of emergency will not affect facility management, the repairing of faults, the planned development projects, or maintenance, and the required tasks will be performed according to the original schedule while conforming to suitable safety measures. NKM’s customer service office has already been closed, and a decision has previously been made with relation to the fact that no public utilities will be turned off for any reason during the epidemic.
