Coronavirus Update: People should do all they can to help prevent the spread of infection

The Chief Medical Officer asked all citizens to prevent the possibility of infection by any means possible, by keeping to the social distancing rules and leaving home only when it’s absolutely necessary.

At today’s Operational Group press conference, Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases is continuously increasing, therefore people should do everything they can to help prevent further infections.

The Chief Medical Officer asked all citizens to prevent the possibility of infection by any means possible, by keeping to the social distancing rules and leaving home only when it’s absolutely necessary.

Müller added that the situation has changed in the way that people have become infected throughout the entire country. “It is now not always possible to explore all cases, neither to find all contacts,” she said.

Meanwhile, Colonel Tibor Lakatos, Head of the Operational Group, said there are currently 10,688 people in compulsory home quarantine; the police have checked these people 78,814 times and 418 cases of violation were found.
