E.ON and Audi join forces to build solar energy park in Győr

Construction work will start in August 2019 and renewable energy generation will start at the beginning of next year

Electricity giant E.ON is joining forces with Audi to build a solar energy park on the roofs of two logistics centers at the Audi Hungaria plant in Győr.

Covering an area of about 160,000 square meters, the site will create Europe’s largest photovoltaic system. It will have a peak output of 12 megawatts.

According to reports, construction work will start in August 2019 and renewable energy generation will start at the beginning of next year.

The energy generated will correspond to the annual energy requirements of 5,000 households. As a result of green electricity from regenerative sources, about 6,000 tons less carbon dioxide will be released into the air.
