Experts are warning Hungarians to be prepared for winter this year as it’s set to become one of the coldest yet.

The temperature is expected to plunge below freezing tonight, -4°C predicted on Wednesday. However, the real cold spells are expected in December, January and February where temperatures are set to plunge far below zero.

Snow is expected in some parts of Hungary on Wednesday, with other areas receiving around 4mm of rain throughout the day.

Temperatures are expected to be around the 1°C mark on December 1st. The first December weekend is expected to start off the extreme cold spell with temperatures dropping to -4°C, which will continue and worsen through January and February.

Extended forecasts indicate that much of Hungary may experience a white Christmas this year.
