FM: Boosting ties in tourism will be on the agenda with Chinese president

The foreign minister said Hungary is an absolute record holder in the region with 19 direct flights to be operated weekly to China from July.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said boosting ties in tourism will also be on the agenda during the visit later this week of the Chinese president. The foreign minister added that this may be greatly helped by the fact that Hungary is an absolute record holder in the region with 19 direct flights to be operated weekly to China from July. “We would also like the visa waiver granted to Hungarian citizens to be in place over a longer period of time,” he said. The war in Ukraine and the peace plan prepared by China will also feature high on the agenda of talks, Minister Szijjártó said, adding that Hungary welcomed the peace plan “first of all because it exists and also because it is about peace”. “China is unquestionably one of the strongest states in the pro-peace camp that keeps emphasising the importance of peace,” Minister Szijjártó said. “There is full consensus between us on this matter, which is why the possibility of creating peace will be an important topic on the agenda of talks.”
