Foreign minister says Martin Schulz should focus on his own failing party rather than criticizing Hungary

“Everything always reminds Schulz of the Hungarian prime minister, but he had better get to work on his own party after its three ignominious election defeats over the past few months,” Minister Szijjártó said

Hungary's foreign minister has said that it's about time Martin Schulz "occupies himself with his own party” in light of recent election defeats instead of criticizing Hungary's government and prime minister.

Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, made the remarks following comments made by Schulz at a party congress on Sunday in Dortmund.

According to MTI, Schulz suggested that the “democratic, enlightened and tolerant” Europe for which former chancellor Helmut Kohl had fought was facing “new problems”, as EU governments such as the Hungarian government led by Viktor Orbán and Poland’s government “question” tolerance and openness to the world.

“Everything always reminds Schulz of the Hungarian prime minister, but he had better get to work on his own party after its three ignominious election defeats over the past few months,” Minister Szijjártó said.
