Guest nights at commercial accommodation increases as tourism booms

The total revenue of commercial accommodations increased by 12.3 percent to 133.2m EUR

KSH has revealed that guest nights at commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by 5.4 percent year-on-year to 2,385,000 in October as a four-day weekend boosted stays by domestic guests.

Official figures show that guest nights spent by domestic travelers jumped by 9.4 percent to 1,170,000 as Hungarians used a four-day weekend for the October 23rd national holiday for recreation.

Guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose by 1.8 percent to 1,215,000 during the same period. While the total revenue of commercial accommodations increased by 12.3 percent to 43 billion HUF (133.2m EUR).

At hotels, the average occupancy rate stood at 63.2 percent, up 3.0 percentage points from the same month a year earlier. Total revenue per available room at hotels climbed 11.7 percent to 23,920 HUF (74 EUR).
