Hungarian authorities are continuing an investigation into the local ties of terrorist Salah Abdeslam who made several trips to Hungary in 2015, it has been revealed.

According to Magyar Idők, Hungarian authorities are conducting the investigation following a request from French authorities for help with their ongoing investigation.

Abdeslam was responsible for the Bataclan shootings and a series of attacks in Belgium. The Hungarian authorities are trying to identify all persons that Abdeslam made contact with while in Hungary.

The fourteen-member terrorist team he belonged to was involved in the preparation and execution of terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015 and Brussels on March 22, 2016.

According to Hungary's center for counter-terrorism, it is thought ISIS set up a 'logistics hub' in the country in the summer of 2015 at the peak of the migrant crisis, when jihadis slipped into Western Europe through Eastern Europe's Balkan routes.

Paris ISIS attacker Salah Abdeslam is believed to have played a key role in the logistics of the Paris attacks, hiring the cars and renting safe houses for the other members of the ISIS cell.

He is understood to have made four trips to Hungary in August and October 2015 in which he picked up other militants linked to both the Brussels and Paris terrorist attacks.
