Officials have confirmed that a Hungarian citizen is one of 13 victims killed in the Madeira tree disaster. The victim's name has not yet been released.

Thirteen people were killed and 49 injured when a tree fell during a religious festival in Madeira, Portugal, on Tuesday.

According to the regional Health Secretary Pedro Ramos, the tree fell during an important Catholic celebration on the island.

Ramos said crowds had gathered to honor Our Lady of the Mountain at a church in a village near to the city of Funchal.
