Hungarian Film Week kicks off with 200 productions in seven categories

The five-day festival will allow audiences who missed the films last year to watch them in cinemas

Hungarian Film Week has kicked off in Budapest with 200 productions in seven categories.

The purpose of the five-day festival is to allow audiences who missed these films last year to watch them in cinemas.

“The popularity of Hungarian film is constantly increasing, the successes of the last five years have formed a good base and we have to continue building this trend,” said Emil Novák, Executive Director of the Hungarian Film Academy.

What's more, the establishment of a new batch of television series was based on the popularity of the genre in Hungary. For instance, the most successful series, the Golden Life (Aranyélet) was released in the US and had as big an audience as HBO's most successful series, the Game of Thrones in Hungary.
