Hungarian government introduces new childcare subsidy for foster parents

The Hungarian government is to introduce a new childcare subsidy (GYED) for foster parents from January 1st, 2020.

Speaking at an event at a small group home for children in state care in the northern Hungarian village of Tar, Fülöp said that 15,000 children in Hungary live with foster parents and some 8,000 in state homes. Therefore, strengthening the network of foster parents and boosting appreciation for child protection professionals is extremely important, he stressed.
