Hungarian police units dispatched to serve along Serbia and North Macedonia border

The 20-strong unit serving in Serbia and the 30-strong unit in North Macedonia will be tasked with border patrol duties, and surveilling illegal migrants and people smugglers.

 

The national police headquarters (ORFK) has announced that two separate Hungarian police units have been dispatched to serve along the border of Serbia and North Macedonia.

According to MTI, the 20-strong unit serving in Serbia and the 30-strong unit in North Macedonia will be tasked with border patrol duties, and surveilling illegal migrants and people smugglers. They will also be dispatched in the central areas of the two countries.

ORFK said in a statement that the patrols will carry out their tasks with infrared hand and mobile cameras and SUVs. Hungarian police are committed towards the task to prevent the entry of illegal migrants into Hungary and the European Union and have offered dispatching the units to help achieve this goal.
