Hungarian tourism industry is booming

The spring-summer season saw an unprecedented spike in the Hungarian tourism industry.

The spring-summer season saw an unprecedented spike in the Hungarian tourism industry.

The consumer demographic was predominantly comprised of families with small children, groups of friends and elderly couples, while the number of tourists traveling from abroad increased significantly. Some of the most popular destinations included beaches, poolside locations, tent campsites, and luxury hotels.

“This was a particularly strong season for the tourism industry,” said the CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, Zoltán Guller.

What’s more, the Budapest-based baths and water theme parks experienced a five percent hike in August alone.

“About 150,000 more guests visited the Palatinus Strand Baths, the Dagály thermal baths, the Paskál Spa and Swimming Pool, the Csillaghegy Swimming Pools, the Római Open Air Baths, and the Pünkösdfürdő Open Air Baths,” said Szilvia Cinege, sales and marketing director of the Budapest Spas and Hot Springs Company.
