Hungarian universities among the world's best

Among Hungarian institutions, Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest came first for Hungary in 488th place

Six Hungarian universities have been listed in this year’s World University Rankings, which reveals the 1,000 best universities from around the world.

Experts compiling the list named UK and USA institutions in the highest order, Harvard was ranked the world’s best university, followed by Stanford and MIT. From the UK, Cambridge and Oxford earned fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Among Hungarian institutions, Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest came first for Hungary in 488th place, followed by Semmelweis University of Medicine at 631st place, the University of Debrecen ranked 661, the University of Szeged at 708th, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics 850th, and the University of Pécs was ranked at 877.

Studying in Hungary is becoming increasingly popular with foreign students - the number of Erasmus students taking semester classes in Hungary has risen dramatically.

Hungarian student numbers are also increasing with a large number of local talent deciding to study here in Hungary rather than abroad.
