Labor Day has become an important part of the Hungarian holiday calendar.

May Day, or Labor Day, is celebrated in most countries around the world and signals the start of spring as well as the celebration of workers.

Labor Day came into prominence in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries when factory workers’ human rights were violated with extreme work conditions.

Hungarians usually celebrate the day with parades, picnics, concerts, rallies and government events to celebrate workers and labor unions.

Labor Day celebrations will be held on the banks of the Danube and throughout Budapest, and will be marked up and down the country.
