Hungary to host international theatre festival in Budapest

The festival will run from April 12 to 30 and opens with a Waltz presented by Teatro Tascabile from Italy’s Bergamo, the director of the National Theatre

Hungary will host the 4th international theatre festival in Budapest in April, showing 24 productions from eleven European countries.

The festival will run from April 12 to 30 and opens with a Waltz presented by Teatro Tascabile from Italy’s Bergamo, the director of the National Theatre.

According to MTI, on the opening day Poland’s Wroclaw Theatre company will perform Austrian author Thomas Bernhard’s Woodcutters.

The festival will also feature performances by Hungarian theatre companies from neighboring countries including The Rest by Attila Bartis from Targu Mures (Marosvasarhely) and Porno by András Visky from Satu Mare (Szatmárnémeti).

Other shows include Hedda Gabler presented by the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Stockholm, Crime and Punishment performed by the Aleksandrinsky Theatre of Saint Petersburg and Cyrano de Bergerac by Hungary’s National Theatre.

The festival will also show Lermontov’s Ashik Kerib performed by the Tatar State Drama Theatre from Russia’s Almetyevsk. There will also be a costume exhibition displayed  throughtout the festival.
