Hungary’s tourism sector is booming, according to new figures.

Guest nights spent in commercial lodgings rose by 7.1 percent year-on-year to 1,914,000 in November, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) has reported.

Official figures show that guest nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 8.7 percent to 973,000, while those spent by domestic travelers climbed by 5.6 percent to 942,000. MTI reports that revenue was up 16 percent at 35 billion HUF in the period.

In January-November, the number of guest nights increased by 6.7 percent year-on-year to 27,618,000.

The number of nights spent by foreign guests was up 8 percent at 13,946,000 and the number spent by domestic guests increased by 5.4 percent to 13,671,000.

Revenue of the sector was up 15.8 percent at 430 billion HUF in the period. The occupancy rate rose by 3.5 percentage points to 60.2 percent.
