Interior ministry warns of increasing migration pressure

Frontex figures show that in 2019 the number of migrants along the Balkans route had doubled.

Károly Kontrát, state secretary at the ministry of interior, has noted how in the first twelve days of 2020, a total of 1,630 migrants made attempts to illegally enter Hungary.

According to MTI, Kontrát noted that 17,200 illegal entrants were stopped last year. He said Frontex figures show that in 2019 the number of migrants along the Balkans route had doubled.

There are currently about 100,000 migrants on their way to Europe and “more and more are approaching the Hungarian border,” he said. He also warned of the possibility of terrorists arriving in Europe among the migrant masses.
