Hungarian police have detained an Iraqi man who is suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl in Hamburg last November, it has been revealed.
Police arrested the man in the town of Kiskunhalas, around 50km from the Serbian border. He arrived in Hungary last year, November 17, just days after allegedly committing the crime in Germany.
According to MTI, German police turned to the Hungarian authorities with a request to help identify the man in January.
A European and international arrest warrant was issued for the man who had been living under an alias. Hungarian police identified him on the basis of photographs and finger prints. The man now awaits extradition.
