Kocsis: V4 is the most successful alliance in the EU

Máté Kocsis said the selection process of new EU leaders has proven that Hungarians will not support candidates who do not respect the Hungarian nation, Christian culture and are not committed to halting immigration.

Caucus leader of the ruling Fidesz party Máté Kocsis has said the debate about who should lead Europe in the new electoral cycle has shown that the V4 is the most successful alliance in the European Union.

Addressing parliament, Kocsis said the V4 has reached a historic landmark by showing that they are an unavoidable power in the EU, whose larger countries can no longer dictate terms to the newcomers.

The politician said that by blocking the candidacy of Frans Timmermans and Manfred Weber the V4 has reached its main goal and the new leaders of the EU represent a chance that must be seized.

Kocsis also said that the selection process of the new EU leaders has proven that Hungarians will not support candidates who do not respect the Hungarian nation, Christian culture and are not committed to halting immigration.

State minister Csaba Dömötör said during the session that the unity of the V4 group remained unbroken, despite the fact that their national leaderships belong to different political families. He added that now chances are good for a fresh start and European policies more favorable to Hungary and other Central European nations.
