Next phase of Liget Project kicks off in Budapest City Park

Some 80,000 square meters of Budapest’s City Park will be renewed and 200 trees will be planted in the current phase of the project.

László Baán, the ministerial commissioner in charge of the Liget Project, said some 80,000 square meters of Budapest’s City Park will be renewed and 200 trees will be planted in the current phase of the project.

According to MTI, Baán said the project was “the largest gardening and landscaping program in Hungary’s history”, adding further green areas to the park and renewing the existing vegetation over the coming year.

So far, nearly 150,000 square meters of the park has been renewed, and 72,000 square meters of paving removed. Baán said nearly 500 trees, over 70,000 shrubs and 140,000 perennials have been planted.
