Number of guests staying in Hungarian hotels and holiday lets grows by 12% in one year

Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 8.8 percent to 1,486,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 15.6 percent to 1,419,000

The number of guests staying in Hungarian hotels and holiday lets grew by an annual 12 percent to 2,905,000 in June, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) has revealed.

According to MTI, guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 8.8 percent to 1,486,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 15.6 percent to 1,419,000.

The revenue from commercial accommodations increased 22.1 percent to 44 billion HUF. At hotels, revenue per room jumped 24.1 percent to 13,185 HUF. The average room price was up 12.1 percent at 20,593 HUF. 

According to official figures, the occupancy rate at hotels grew by 6.2 percentage points to 64 percent in one year.

In January-June total guest nights were up 10.6 percent compared to the same period last year, at 12,181,000. Guest nights spent by Hungarians rose 8.3 percent to 5,791,000 and guest nights spent by foreign visitors were up 12.7 percent at 6,390,000 in the first six months of the year.
