One of Hungary’s best swimmers has announced his retirement from the sport.

Olympic, world and European champion Dániel Gyurta announced on Tuesday that he has retired from professional competition.

“It is perhaps one of the toughest moments in my life, but I had to realize that I can no longer surmount the many difficulties I have had to face recently,” he said.
