Over 600 localities win HUF 10 billion of funding within government’s Hungarian Village scheme

Small localities and village parishes can apply for a maximum of HUF 30 million for the development of communal spaces and to hire a community organizer for one year.

Alpár Gyopáros, the government commissioner for modern communities, has confirmed that more than 600 localities have won altogether HUF 10 billion (EUR 28.3m) in development funding within the government’s Hungarian Village scheme.

Gyopáros said small localities and village parishes can apply for a maximum of HUF 30 million for the development of communal spaces and to hire a community organizer for one year.

The commissioner said the development projects will create the infrastructure necessary for the local governments to organize community life. Community organizers will work with priests and organize lay events in parishes where one priest has to serve several villages, he added.
