PM Orbán approves 150 million HUF donation to rebuild Christian church

“Europe’s future lies in recapturing its Christian roots which still constitute the most important community-building power that any town or country can have," PM Orbán said

The Hungarian government is donating 150 million HUF to rebuild a Catholic church damaged in an earthquake in Tolentino, it has been reported.

The Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Benedict of Nursia was so badly hit by an earthquake on October 30 that Andrea Carradori, the prior of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Friary, turned to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a letter, asking for his support for the reconstruction.

PM Orbán said in his response that he had turned to his cabinet with the request and the government has approved financial support for the church’s reconstruction.

“Europe’s future lies in recapturing its Christian roots which still constitute the most important community-building power that any town or country can have," PM Orbán added.
