PM Orbán: By 2030 Budapest may become one of the most liveable large cities in Europe

The prime minister said that in the next decade Budapest may live to see the most successful period in its history

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós have signed an agreement on making Budapest one of the most liveable large cities by 2030.

The agreement consisted of 15 points on the cooperation of the capital and the government. The establishment of the Council for Metropolitan Public Developments also forms part of the agreement.

During the signing ceremony held on the 145th anniversary of the unification of Budapest, Mayor Tarlós announced that he had signed a “far-reaching and comprehensive” agreement with the prime minister which will see “an improvement in the capital’s funding opportunities”.

PM Orbán said in his speech that in the next decade the capital may live to see the most successful period in its history.

The prime minister stressed that by 2030 Budapest may become one of the most liveable large cities in Europe, the continent’s safest capital offering a high quality of life. He added that this aspiration requires well-organized, hard, joint work on the part of both the city management and the government.
