Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has held informal talks with Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of Poland’s governing Law and Justice party, in Budapest on Tuesday, it has been revealed.

Orbán met with Kaczyński in the Parliament building and the two visited Esztergom in north Hungary, Bertalan Havasi said.

During the informal meeting which lasted throughout Tuesday afternoon the two politicians addressed the current European political situation, he added.

Kaczyński is known to be a supporter of the Hungarian leader, although their relationship suffered when Poland accused Hungary of pursuing overly pro-Russian foreign policies and getting to close to Vladimir Putin.

In January, Orbán visited Poland to hold “private talks” with Kaczyński and other leaders of the country’s ruling PiS party.
