PM Orbán meets with Forza Italia party president Silvio Berlusconi in Rome

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Forza Italia party president Silvio Berlusconi and vice-president Antonia Tajani in Rome on Thursday.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Forza Italia party president Silvio Berlusconi and vice-president Antonia Tajani in Rome on Thursday.

According to government sources, the two leaders discussed current European Union issues, bilateral economic relations and cooperation of their respective parties within the European People's Party (EPP).

PM Orbán said after the meeting that his Fidesz party and Berlusconi's Forza Italia will continue their "closest cooperation" both in the European Parliament and other EU institutions

With regard to bilateral economic ties, PM Orbán said Berlusconi will shortly visit Budapest with a delegation of businessmen to discuss further cooperation possibilities, especially in high technology.

"Within the EPP we are very close to one another: we both expressly oppose migration, tax increases, any EU decision that is detrimental to competitiveness and oppose EU-wide tax regulations," PM Orbán said.

The Prime Minister also posted a picture on his Facebook page with the comment "Friends forever".
