PM Orbán: Migration has caused a cultural crisis in Europe

PM Orbán said those Europeans who think that people coming from the Islamic world will not bring the laws, customs and conflicts specific to this culture for centuries are deceiving themselves

The migration crisis has morphed into a European cultural crisis, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the inauguration of the Avicenna Institute for Middle Eastern studies.

"Islamic culture is occupying new territories in Europe, more and more Muslims are settling in Western European cities," PM Orbán said at the opening of the institute in Piliscsaba, northwest of Budapest.

According to Rmx.news, the prime minister said oriental studies have undergone a major transformation in that it is no longer sufficient to look at what's happening in the East but also what is going on in the West, meaning that oriental studies now also have a strategic aspect.

PM Orbán said those Europeans who think that people coming from the Islamic world will not bring the laws, customs and conflicts specific to this culture for centuries are deceiving themselves.

He said the Western European champions of integration who think that those yearning for French or German living standards will also want to become French and German "live in a bubble". The truth is that they do want to have French, German or Hungarian living standards, but still live according to their own rules.

He said the institute is meant to find answers to as yet unanswered questions such as whether Europe is prepared for this situation and whether it can guarantee peaceful co-existence
