Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that the European Union should seek a new deal with the United States as the free trade agreement has failed.

According to Reuters, PM Orbán told an economic conference that Europe should let go of the "illusion of federalism."

Meanwhile, PM Orbán wrote a letter congratulating Donald Trump on becoming the 45th president of the United States. The prime minister said he was looking forward to further enhancing the “long-standing, strong and cordial ties” between Hungary and the United States.

The prime minister expressed confidence that through continued partnership the two countries would be able to tackle the challenges and explore the opportunities. The prime minister finally expressed his best wishes to the new US president.
