President Putin to be honored by the university of Debrecen

President Putin will receive the award in recognition of “the major role the Russian Federation and Hungary assign to the Debrecen University in the upgrade of the Paks nuclear plant"

President Vladimir Putin is to be honored by the University of Debrecen. The Russian premier will receive the title of “civis honoris causa”, the University has confirmed.

Putin will receive the award in recognition of “the major role the Russian Federation and Hungary assign to the Debrecen University in the upgrade of the Paks nuclear plant," the senate of the University said. It was recently revealed that the University will train experts for the project.

According to MTI, Hungary signed an agreement with Russia on the construction of two blocks at the Paks nuclear power plant in 2014.

János Süli, the minister in charge of the investment project, revealed in May that the two new blocks would be operational by 2026.

Putin will visit Hungary for the second time this year where he will be a guest at the opening ceremony of Judo World Cup on August 28.
