Red Bull Air Race returns to Budapest

14 pilots will battle it out for the championships by flying up and down the Danube in timed laps between Parliament and the Margaret Bridge

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship is returning to Budapest for the ninth time on July 16 and 17.

During the 70th race this year, 14 pilots will battle it out for the championships by flying up and down the Danube between Parliament and Margaret bridge in timed laps.

This year will be more unpredictable than ever with the field wide open, there hasn't been a consistent winner over the past 12 months so there is room for a shock win in Budapest.

Hungary's very own Peter Besenyei will also be there cheering along from the sidelines..

Besenyei won the very first race, and the first season title, in 2003, and he was a pioneering force in developing the sport before retiring from the World Championship at the end of 2015. He’ll be on hand along with thousands of spectators lining both sides of the Danube.
