Matteo Salvini, head of Italy’s League party, has thanked Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for an encouraging message he sent him after the Italian parliament removed Salvini’s immunity.
Salvini is facing legal proceedings because he, when interior minister, banned a ship of illegal migrants from docking. Salvini quoted PM Orbán as saying: “My friend, go on with your fight!”
According to Salvini, nearly 14,000 illegal migrants have arrived in his country this year, compared to fewer than 4,000 in the same period last year.
