There will be an extraordinary break in judgments handed down by Hungarian courts

The National Office for the Judiciary announced the extraordinary break in Hungary’s judicial proceedings due to the coronavirus infection.

According to the statement, the decision was made on the proposal of the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary and the Attorney General. Based on this recommendation, the Government has now ordered an extraordinary pause of all court judgments, which will take effect on March 15.

Additionally, in light of the closing of primary schools, kindergartens and nursery schools, all court staff with children under the age of 14 are exempted from the obligation to work, pending a further decision on working remotely from home.

Parties may obtain additional information in regard to this extraordinary judicial break on the central court’s website and on the websites belonging to Hungary’s courts of appeal and tribunals as well.
