Two new Hungarian banknotes are to be brought into circulation in 2017 and the 20,000 HUF note will be discontinued, it has been revealed.
A new 2,000 and 5,000 HUF note will be distributed in March 2017 and the old versions will be slowly withdrawn from circulation.
The current notes can be used anywhere throughout Hungary up unitl July 31, 2017, and after that only banks and post offices will accept the notes until July 31, 2020. MNB can also exchange the notes over the next twenty years, up until July 31, 2037.
The old 10,000 and 20,000 HUF notes issued before 2015 can be used right up until December 31, 2017.
