Wage gap between men and women is lower in Hungary than EU average

The average pay gap between men and women in all 28 member states stands at 16 percent, but luckily the situation is better in Hungary at 14.2 percent

The results of a Eurostat survey have been released which show the gender pay gaps in EU countries - Hungary fairs better than most European countries.

The average pay gap between men and women in all 28 member states stands at 16 percent, but luckily the situation is better in Hungary. According to the results, women’s gross salary is 14.2 percent lower than men's in Hungary.

The results showed that the biggest difference occurred in Estonia, where women get less than three-quarters of men's pay.

Working conditions for women are best in Romania, where the difference in pay is only 3.5 percent. While the average unemployment rate among women in the EU is at a rate of 11.5 percent – 15.3 percent in Hungary.
