WARNING: Be extra cautious while traveling in Europe this Christmas

The Hungarian government has asked Hungarians traveling abroad this Christmas to be extra vigilant and cautious

The Hungarian government has asked Hungarians traveling abroad this Christmas to be extra vigilant and cautious.

Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affiars and Trade, asked travelers to register with the consular service website, specifying exactly where they are going and for how long. He said Hungarian embassies would be on call at all times.

The minister said that the US state department has warned US citizens of the risk of terror attacks while traveling in Europe and Europol has also issued a warning that the Islamic State terrorist group is likely to plan further attacks.

Revenge attacks against civilians may become more likely as IS is attacked more often in the Middle East, Szijjártó added.
