Year-long Hungarian-Turkish cultural season kicks off

The year-long cultural season marking the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic ties will feature the finest of Turkish culture in Hungary.

The joint Hungarian-Turkish cultural season opened with a gala evening at the Palace of Arts (Müpa) on Monday.

The event was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Katalin Novák and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Government commissioner Péter Hoppál said Hungary and Turkey’s friendship was rooted in the time before the two peoples’ conquests of their lands. The year-long cultural season marking the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic ties will feature the finest of Turkish culture in Hungary, while Turkey will get a taste of Hungarian culture during this time, he said.
