8,578 new COVID cases recorded in Hungary yesterday

115 people passed away yesterday due to complications related to COVID-19, while the number of vaccinated people now stands at 6,384,828.

The total number of vaccinated people is 6,384,828, of which 6,146,028 have already received their second dose and 3,776,200 have received their third dose.

A total of 8,578 new infections have been confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of infected persons identified since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,738,944. The 115 deaths yesterday were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the total number of deaths to 42,966. The number of recovered people continues to increase and now stands at 1,493,240, while the number of active infected people is 202,738. 5,062 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, of whom 206 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 10,570,027 coronavirus tests have been performed in Hungary.

The fourth dose of the COVID-vaccine is now available, and the quarantine period has been shortened to 7 days. Immunity certificates of those having two vaccinations will be valid for an extended period, until 1 May, in line with the practice of other EU countries.
