Thousands of people are expected to take part in Hungary's main St. Stephen’s Day celebration in Budapest this evening. There will be tens of thousands of fireworks that will light up the sky from hundreds of launch points, including Szabadság and Erzsébet bridges, as well as river barges and pontoons. Every year on August 20, Hungary celebrates the establishment of the Hungarian State and the country’s more than 1,000-year-old history. Today, the holiday once again celebrates the nation’s patron saint and the foundation of the Hungarian State over 1,000 years ago.
