David B. Cornstein is set to take up his post as US ambassador to Hungary next Friday, it has been revealed.
President Donald Trump nominated Cornstein in February and a statement confirmed that he will begin his post on June 22nd, 2018. “Ambassador Cornstein is excited to begin his work in Hungary and further strengthen the U.S. – Hungary relationship,” a statement said.
Cornstein, a New York businessman, is currently serving as chairman of Pinnacle Advisors, a financial and investment consultancy firm. He previously held top positions at Finlay Enterprise.
Cornstein has also held the post of chairman of the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation and vice-chairman of New York’s Economic Development Corporation. He was also chairman of the New York State Olympic Games Commission and a board member of the Battery Park City Authority.
He has also been voted Man of the Year by the New York-based Chemotherapy Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
He holds degrees from Lafayette College and from New York University, and is due to take up his position within the coming weeks, pending confirmation in the US Senate.
