A 400 billion forint (EUR 1bn) investment will double the plant’s capacity.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said the expansion of the Mercedes facilities in Kecskemet, in central Hungary, is progressing according to schedule. The 400 billion forint (EUR 1bn) investment will double the plant’s capacity, “adding to Hungary’s weight in shaping modern car manufacturing,” Minister Szijjártó said on Facebook. Production at a chassis manufacturing and an assembly plant is expected to start at the end of 2025, creating new jobs in the process, Minister Szijjártó said. He also said Jörg Burzer, the board member in charge of the Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management Division, had praised the Hungarian workforce and the operational environment.
