Hungary is not interested in a divided world but in global cooperation and therefore welcomes strong relations between China and the United States, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said during his talks in Beijing.
FM Szijjártó emphasized that both China and the United States are Hungary’s most important partners outside Europe in terms of trade and investment. “We are interested in a good Chinese-American relationship, and we always welcome high-level dialogue between the two countries. For global peace and the development of the world economy, cooperation between China and the United States is crucial,” the minister underlined.
During his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister Szijjártó highlighted Hungary’s consistent support for dialogue between East and West. He stressed that Hungary belongs to the “bloc of peace” alongside China, commending Beijing’s international efforts to promote negotiations and peaceful solutions to global security crises, including the war in Ukraine.
According to the minister, the Chinese government views bilateral relations with Hungary as a model, and the two countries have built a partnership marked by trust and mutual respect. FM Szijjártó recalled that this was already their 23rd personal meeting in the past 11 years, proof of a sustained and constructive diplomatic dialogue.
“The Hungarian position is clear: we seek civilized cooperation between East and West. Isolation and rivalry serve no one’s interest. Hungary stands ready to contribute to peace and to deepen cooperation with China, the United States, and all partners committed to stability,” Minister Szijjártó concluded.
