Hungarian rock singer Tamás Somló has died at the age of 68, it was announced today

After a long-suffering battle with colon cancer, the star succumbed to the disease on Tuesday, July 19, at his Hungarian home.

Somlo fought his illness for many years, in November 2015 he revealed that he had overcome the disease, but it unfortunately returned in May of this year.

His greatest successes were with the band LGT. He was also a member of the iconic Hungarian rock group Omega and released a number of solo records.

Born November 17, 1947, in Budapest, he was raised as a very musical child learning to play many instruments and studied at the Institute of Artists.

His first foray into the big time came in 1973 with the band LGT, where he continued in the industry until this very day. He played the saxophone, the bass and also wrote several hit songs.
